Exhibition about García Márquez in Bogotá

'Everything is Known: The Story of Gabo's Creation' is an exhibition that will be inaugurated in April in Bogotá, Colombia, to commemorate the anniversary of Gabriel García Márquez's birth. The showcase, organized by the Gabo Foundation, aims to provide a comprehensive view of the life and work of the 1982 Nobel Prize in Literature laureate.

The exhibition will feature nearly 450 documents from García Márquez's personal archive, including manuscripts of short stories, novels, and articles, personal letters, childhood drawings, passports, books, magazines, newspapers, photos, videos, among other significant items. It will also display objects belonging to other writers who influenced Gabo's work, such as William Faulkner, Virginia Woolf, Guillermo Cano, Álvaro Cepeda Samudio, Julio Cortázar, Carlos Fuentes, and Jorge Luis Borges.

The Gabo Foundation emphasized that the exhibition will reveal unpublished aspects of García Márquez's literary creation, showcasing his private letters, his dreams and literary failures, as well as his projects as a political man in Colombia and the world. The exhibit will allow visitors to delve into the author's life through photographs, news articles, and documents that narrate his rise as an influential figure in world literature.

The showcase will be open to the public from April 23 to August 2 at the National Library of Colombia. It is a joint project between the institution, the Gabo Foundation, the Ministry of Culture, the Development Bank of Latin America (CAF), and the Harry Ransom Center at the University of Texas in Austin, which acquired García Márquez's personal archive in 2015.
