Safe Carnival 2026 Operation in Colombia

Colombian authorities reported on the results of the “Safe Carnival 2026” operation, during which hundreds of thousands of checks were conducted and hundreds of violators were apprehended. Thanks to increased patrols, public order was maintained and the safety of thousands of citizens was ensured.


As of 6:00 a.m. this Sunday, February 15, the Public Force has conducted 207,452 citizen verifications as part of the “Safe Carnival 2026” operation, framed within the #FirmPlan. In areas with the highest concentration of celebrations, 97 procedures were registered for various reasons: 19 for arrest warrants, 25 for custody orders, 9 for brawls, 6 for criminal substitution, and 4 for disturbing the public order. The Ministry of Public Security reaffirms that the objective of the “Safe Carnival 2026” is clear: to ensure that joy and safety go hand in hand. As part of the preventive and operational actions carried out on streets, beaches, roads, and strategic points, 530 people were apprehended for various offenses and crimes, which demonstrates the active presence and timely response of the authorities. During these events, no major incidents that could disrupt the festivities have been reported, which confirms the effectiveness of the preventive deployment and immediate response throughout the country by the security forces. These results show that the permanent presence of the Public Force and coordination with emergency services have made it possible to contain isolated situations, reduce risks, and preserve public order for the benefit of thousands of families who are enjoying the Carnival with confidence. The operation remains active nationwide, with constant vigilance and coordinated work among the security forces, which reiterate the call to the public to celebrate responsibly and prudently. The unified institutional report highlights that 93,943 vehicles traveled into the country's interior and 2,653 fines were issued: 486 for speeding, 186 for traffic accidents, 514 for failing to obey signals, 61 for proven intoxication, and 45 for alcohol breath, among others. Additionally, 3 summonses were issued and 31 minors were accounted for in the actions.
