Colombian Police Report Record Traffic Violations During Carnival

During the first days of the 'Carnival' operation in Colombia, over 52,000 vehicles entered the country, with 944 traffic violations recorded. The police are urging drivers to be cautious and follow traffic laws.


According to a report by the National Police, from 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 12, to 6:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 14, a total of 52,162 vehicles have entered the country during the initial hours of the Carnival operation. Authorities reported 944 traffic violations. It is public knowledge that during these Carnival festivities, there is a massive flow of vehicles into the country's interior. However, the most common offenses are: 163 for speeding; 251 for failing to obey traffic signals; 33 for disobedience; 8 for proven intoxication; and 64 for improper use of lights. The National Police insists that drivers must exercise caution and not just during these days. They remind everyone to respect traffic laws, avoid drinking alcohol if you are driving, and keep your documents up to date.
