Colombian singer Yeison Jiménez, one of the main exponents of Colombian popular music, was on board the small plane that crashed this Saturday in a rural area of Boyacá, local media confirmed. Colonel Álvaro Bello, of the Civil Aeronautics, confirmed to Caracol Radio that the artist Yeison Jiménez was in the crashed plane flying from Paipa to Duitama with a destination to Medellín, and that the aircraft was burned to the ground after the accident. Jiménez, 34, born in Manzanares, Caldas, was one of the most influential artists of Colombian regional music in the last decade and a key figure in the expansion of the popular genre, managing to take this style beyond the traditional circuits of popular music in Colombia. Two weeks ago, Jiménez had said in an interview that he had dreamed three times that he was going to die in a plane accident.
