Former Official Arrested on Charges of Unjust Enrichment in Colombia

Former DNOT Commissioner Javier Facuco was arrested in Colombia on charges of unjust enrichment. A judge authorized his detention and the seizure of assets worth over $490,000. The investigation, covering the period from 2014 to 2018, is ongoing.

The defense appealed that decision, but so far, the provisional detention remains in place as the case progresses. The procedure was carried out in the district of Ernesto Córdoba Campos as part of the investigation for alleged unjust enrichment. It was indicated that this is an ongoing investigation, so proceedings continue and new actions related to assets or properties are not ruled out. After being apprehended during an operation in the district of Ernesto Córdoba Campos for the alleged crime of unjust enrichment, Facuco faced a control of guarantees hearing in November 2025. In that hearing, a judge legalized his apprehension, charged him, and ordered the precautionary measure of provisional detention while the investigation proceeds. So far, the Public Prosecutor's Office has not made official statements, nor have its assistants. The authorities seized several vehicles linked to an investigation covering the period 2014–2018. The case involves a sum exceeding $490,000 and is part of a file that has been under analysis for over six months. The confiscation of assets marked a new chapter in the investigation against the former commissioner of the Traffic Operations Directorate (DNOT), Javier Facuco.
