Colombian singer Shakira has become the highest-grossing Latin artist in history thanks to her stadium tour 'Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran' (Women No Longer Cry). Her team announced on Tuesday that she was recognized by the American music magazine Billboard with the 'Global Touring Icon' award.
To date, 64 of the 82 scheduled concerts for 'Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran' have grossed over $327.4 million and sold more than 2.5 million tickets, setting a new record as the highest-grossing Latin tour by a woman in history. The note also adds that it is currently the second-highest-grossing Latin tour overall, with projections indicating it could reach the top spot by the end of the December dates.
The figures include the series of 12 shows Shakira performed at the GNP Seguros Stadium in Mexico City, the highest number of consecutive shows any tour has offered at this venue, selling 65,000 tickets per night for a total of 780,000 attendees.
The 'Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran' tour was originally launched in April 2024 in support of her album of the same name, which reached number one on the Billboard Top Latin Albums and Latin Pop Albums charts, and will conclude in December in Florida, United States.
