Drake Spends a Fortune on Pablo Escobar's Drug Lord Cap

Rapper Drake is at the center of an international controversy after it was revealed he paid thousands of dollars for a cap that allegedly belonged to drug lord Pablo Escobar. According to reports, the 39-year-old singer and entrepreneur actively participated in an auction where a green cap, which apparently belonged to the Colombian drug trafficker, was up for bid. It is a green cap from the Boston Celtics, a traditional NBA team in the United States. An image of Pablo Escobar wearing the same green Boston Celtics cap also began circulating on social media, which would confirm that the accessory belonged to the drug lord. According to the magazine, the cap was auctioned off in December and is no longer available on the platform where it was posted. The deal closed at $75,000, meaning Drake would have paid a little over 270 million Colombian pesos for the item, which was part of the personal belongings of the 'paisa'. Although the deal took place in December 2025, the news only recently became public after Drake himself showed off the cap in his Instagram stories. The singer's purchase is generating controversy, as this gesture could be interpreted as a tribute to the Colombian drug lord, something offensive to the victims of the violence that the Medellín Cartel perpetrated and caused in the 1980s and 1990s.
