The most recent case involves a U.S. citizen traveling from Panama to Medellín. Both cases were referred to the Public Prosecutor’s Office for their respective investigations.
At the beginning of last month, a similar incident occurred when another foreigner was denied entry after it was discovered that he was carrying a large quantity of sex toys, including lubricants, gels, whips, handcuffs, dildos, and vibrators.
According to Mayor Federico Gutiérrez, authorities determined that the man “was attempting to enter the country with the intention of engaging in sexual activity.” During the inspection, authorities found eight boxes of condoms in his luggage, each containing 12 units, for a total of 98 condoms. This discovery was interpreted as an indication that the visitor planned to engage in sexual activity in the city, as stated by the local official.
According to reports from the Mayor’s Office, between 2024 and 2025, 102 cases have been recorded of travelers with alerts related to possible criminal sexual activity.
Immigration officials interviewed the American traveler about his plans in Medellín, but his answers were unsatisfactory and did not inspire confidence in the authorities.
In two days, more than $21,000 in cash was seized at Tocumen Airport from two passengers.
A new incident of denied entry has been reported at José María Córdova Airport in Medellín.
