Petro announced this on the social media platform X. According to the Argentine News Agency, the leader also invited all citizens to unite in defense of their independence and democracy. He suggested flying the Colombian flag at the entrance of their homes or workplaces. This initiative comes amid global controversy over the recent intervention of U.S. forces in Venezuela. Last Saturday, they kidnapped Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro. Following this, U.S. President Donald Trump called Colombia a 'sick country' that he would like to militarily intervene in. In recent hours, Petro has rejected accusations against him, which link him without evidence to drug trafficking, and stated that he has the support of the Colombian Armed Forces and his people.
