A plane from the Colombian Aerospace Force (FAC) landed at El Dorado International Airport in Bogotá, bringing 110 deported citizens from the United States. The first of two aircraft scheduled to arrive on this day came from San Diego. Colombian President Gustavo Petro shared a photo taken inside the aircraft showing the deportees without handcuffs, following his request for "dignified treatment" for them.

Petro had requested humanitarian treatment for the deportees from Washington, which generated a diplomatic crisis that was resolved. The arrival of this first flight occurs after the Colombian president prevented two flights from the U.S. government carrying deportees from landing in the country. His decision was made under the premise of ensuring respectful and dignified treatment for the repatriated.

"The first of two Colombian planes carrying deportees from the U.S. has landed in Bogotá," reported the FAC after the plane's arrival. This situation arises after days of tension and negotiations between Colombia and the United States regarding the treatment of deportees. The resolution of this situation helped maintain diplomatic relations between both nations without major setbacks.
