The Citizen Power Assembly (ACP) has reiterated its position that foreign relations are the exclusive competence of the Executive branch. This statement comes amid a debate about the participation of other branches of the State in diplomatic decisions and international treaties.
According to the ACP, the Constitution grants the Executive the authority to conduct relations with other countries and international organizations on behalf of the State. In this sense, they believe it is important to respect the separation of powers and not interfere with the responsibilities assigned to each branch of the State.
In the words of a representative of the ACP: "It is essential that the autonomy of the Executive branch in foreign relations is respected. This ensures a coherent and effective action in the international arena, without interferences that could affect the country's position in the global community".
This positioning of the Citizen Power Assembly seeks to reaffirm the importance of respecting institutional integrity and the current legal framework regarding foreign relations. They assert that this stance does not aim to limit debate or the participation of other State bodies, but rather to clearly establish the competencies of each branch to avoid conflicts and ensure a coherent and unified foreign policy.
