In the final of the Miss Universe beauty pageant held on Saturday, November 16, returning to Mexico after 17 years of not being held in the country, Mexican Fernanda Beltrán stood out, ranking 12th among the 30 selected semifinalists. On the other hand, Colombian representative Daniela Toloza was eliminated from the semifinal, putting an end to a streak of five consecutive years advancing to the next stage of the contest.
The elimination of Miss Colombia generated numerous reactions on social media, with memes expressing disbelief at her exit. Users shared messages like: "How can they not call Colombia, what kind of Miss Universe is this, they lost traditional values, talent is dead" and "all of COLOMBIA at this moment," accompanied by images reflecting disappointment over the Colombian candidate's absence from the Miss Universe semifinal.
The unfortunate result breaks Colombia's streak of five consecutive classifications in the contest. Meanwhile, the 30 participants who managed to advance to the swimsuit round included representatives from various countries such as France, India, Serbia, Vietnam, Puerto Rico, Nigeria, Canada, among others.
