Kia Launches EV5 Electric SUV in Latin America

Kia strengthens its electrification strategy in Latin America with the arrival of the EV5, a compact/medium SUV that aims to balance range, technology, and functionality. The model incorporates the latest lithium cell technology, ensuring greater charging efficiency thanks to Kia's 400V platform, allowing for rapid charging of up to 350 kW. The brand opts for a design that falls between compact and medium SUVs, featuring a bold front and exclusive LED lighting across the electric range.

Under the hood, the Kia EV5 features a 215 horsepower electric motor with front-wheel drive, also offering versions for other markets with all-wheel drive and two motors. The cabin stands out for its ergonomic proposal with electrically adjustable seats, a massage function for the driver, and a panoramic sunroof in the more equipped versions. In terms of safety, the model includes multiple driving assistants such as lane keeping, blind spot monitoring, and adaptive cruise control.

In terms of performance, the EV5 offers electrically assisted steering and a single-speed automatic transmission, optimized to take advantage of the immediate torque characteristic of electric vehicles. With an 88.1 kWh battery, the vehicle promises a range of up to 555 km with a full charge, equipped with discs on all four wheels that allow for adjustable energy regeneration to optimize efficiency and extend range.

Despite being developed and designed in Korea, the Kia EV5 is manufactured in China and presents itself as an attractive option for those seeking a versatile electric vehicle in Latin America and other emerging regions. Its practical approach provides rapid acceleration and power delivery, enabling agile movements, complemented by an infotainment system compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto through two approximately 12-inch screens with an intuitive and responsive interface.
