The police in Colombia arrested a man who attempted to smuggle cocaine worth more than 10 thousand dollars under the guise of a parakeet. The drugs were discovered by the police when the man, in his 40s, was trying to board a plane heading to Amsterdam, Netherlands, at Rafael Núñez Airport.
Footage released by the police shows a parakeet that was removed from the man’s head to reveal 19 capsules containing substances weighing a total of 220 grams. According to a statement from the Colombian police, the man was arrested on suspicion of trafficking, production, and possession of narcotics. According to other information, the arrest was preemptive of criminal activity and was meant to prevent the sale of more than 400 doses of cocaine, worth over 10 thousand dollars in international markets.
Gilver Yasid Peña Araki, the police chief, reported that this year over 450 people have already been arrested on charges of drug trafficking.
