Colombian singer Carlos Vives has announced his new 'Tour al sol', which will kick off in September 2026. The tour will include several stops in Colombian cities such as Ibagué, Bogotá, Bucaramanga, Medellín, Pereira, and Cali. Additionally, concerts are planned for Quito and Guayaquil (Ecuador). Vives describes this journey as an opportunity to showcase what he feels they do best. In an interview with EFE, the artist emphasized that his path extends far beyond music and stages, closely tied to social and cultural work in the places that shaped him. He noted that a significant portion of his energy is dedicated to his foundation in Santa Marta, where cumbia originated, as well as working with vulnerable neighborhoods. Vives also spoke out in defense of Hispanic American identity, stating that 'the United States should feel proud' that people from the rest of America are their neighbors, highlighting the historical contribution of migrants who 'helped build that country.' 'We are all Americans,' the singer asserts. He also lamented that cultural differences are often used as a pretext for confrontation, citing the current distance between Colombia and Venezuela as an example. Vives believes that art is a tool for restoring identity and self-worth to people. When asked about violence in Colombia, he attributes it to an 'identity problem' that spans generations. 'It's as if we were permanent teenagers. Politics continues to divide us as if we had to be fighting each other. We are very backward,' the musician believes.
