Colombia Floods: Dozens of Families Left Homeless

Dozens of families affected by floods in the Colombian municipality of Facatativá, adjacent to Bogotá, are living in uncertainty as the water inundated their homes on Thursday, forcing them to face the distress of not knowing where they will spend the night. Amid the mud, damaged furniture and unusable appliances are piling up in the houses, while the affected try to remove water from their homes without sufficient tools, amidst the anguish of losing most of their belongings. Due to the rains of the last few days, the water from the Bojacá River began to flood the streets in the early morning and surprised the neighbors of the Girardot neighborhood in Facatativá, a municipality located in the department of Cundinamarca (center), giving them no time to react. This is explained to EFE by Jonathan, one of the affected, who assures that his home was completely flooded and that he had very little time to save his belongings. Women prepare food for those affected by the heavy rains this Thursday, in Facatativá (Colombia).
